Ruff Rides™ started with one unforgettable road trip. Our founder, Jake Thompson, had always loved taking his golden retriever, Kola, on weekend adventures. But one fateful trip changed everything. On a long drive through the mountains, Kola struggled to find a comfortable spot in the backseat, constantly slipping and unable to relax. After an unexpected sharp turn, Kola lost his balance and yelped—Jake knew then that something had to change.
Determined to create a safer and more comfortable way for pets to travel, Jake went to work designing the perfect solution. With input from veterinarians, pet behaviorists, and fellow pet owners, he developed the Canine Car Lounge, an innovative seat extender and protective cover that transforms any back seat into a spacious, secure haven for dogs of all sizes.
